Working in Retail
This course explores the skills needed to work in retail stores. Learn to identify and understand the value of Canadian coins and bills, practise counting cash and making change, along with reading and writing amounts using both numbers and words. Explore point of sale, learning the difference between cash registers and point of sale programs. Practise counting floats at the beginning of a shift and reconciling sales at the end of a shift. Begin to distinguish between size symbols and sort by number, letter size and colour. Discover what UPC numbers are and how they are used. Review how to stock shelves and face merchandise.
Workplace Essentials 1 & 2 - Soft Skills
This is a 2-part course. These courses introduce and reinforce the importance of time management, adaptability, motivation, attitude, and accountability in the workplace. They encourage building problem-solving skills using creativity and innovation. Explore ways in which collaboration, communication, teamwork, and leadership play an important role in building and maintaining positive relationships with others at work.
