CAEC/PLAR Preparation

LearningHUB practitioners will take Pre-test results and prepare a tailored learning plan so learners can be successful with CAEC and PLAR assessments. Resources are available for all subjects. For Reading, Writing, Math, Personal Management, and Learning Skills please review the courses listed under these headings.

CAEC/PLAR Pre-tests

The Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) are 2 options for adults to earn a high school equivalency credential. This set of practice tests simulates the questions expected and is a good predictor of readiness for the actual tests. All 5 subjects are available for CAEC and PLAR, as well as College-level PLAR Math and Science test for learners with a college goal.

CAEC Math Prep 1, 2, 3

This is a 3-part series that reviews the math skills necessary to be successful on the CAEC test.

 

CAEC Science Prep

Learn about the types of critical thinking and methods required for scientific investigation. Distinguish between observation and inferences, how to detect bias and the nature of scientific theories and laws. Select appropriate units of measurement for collecting, recording, and analyzing data. Analyze patterns and trends in tables and various forms of graphs and charts.

Canada's Citizenship and Government

Learn about Canada's government and citizenship. Examine the rights, roles, and responsibilities of federal, provincial, municipal, and territory governments, the structure and division of power between the House of Commons, Senate, and the Crown, and how to vote. Learn how to find credible information and detect bias and fake news.

History/Geography

Lessons from the Reading Strategies and Writing Skills curriculum as well as Canadian Geography to build readiness for the CAEC/PLAR History/Geography Assessment will be assigned.

Interpreting Tables, Charts, and Other Visual Aids

Tables, Charts, and Visual aids are pictures that help to organize and explain information without using many words. Learn how to read, interpret, and analyze data in simple and complex tables, charts, maps, and infographics.

CAEC Prep 1 - Persuasive Writing

Learn how to write persuasive letters that combine logical arguments, expert opinions, personal experiences and emotional appeals that will help sway readers. Review what persuasive writing is, identify its language, analyze its parts, and prepare to write a persuasive letter.

CAEC Prep 2 - Introduction to Social Studies

Learn about Canada's government, economics, and citizenship. Make connections by understanding Canada's history, physical geography, and its relationship with the world.

CAEC Prep 3 - Graphs and Charts
