Reading, Science and Social Studies
The GED Reading, Science and Social Studies Tests give questions in a variety of formats, including written text and graphics (tables, charts, diagrams, etc.) After completing a GED Assessment, learners will be assigned lessons from our Reading Strategies curriculum to build readiness for these GED questions.
Learners can also watch video tutorials that show how to break down sample questions from each of these subjects.
GED Reading Poetry
Poetry is a special kind of writing in which descriptive language is used to create images and feelings. Understanding poetry will help you pass the GED Language Arts Reading Test. In this lesson, you will learn to identify the effects of rhythm, rhyme and figurative language in a poem. You will interpret words that stand for symbols and images that contribute to the mood and tone of the text and impact the meaning of a poem.

GED Science
The new Edmentum GED Science course has lessons on science vocabulary, life science, ecosystems, energy, electricity, magnetism, earth's structures, and climate along with reading strategies for reading science texts and scientific visual aids.

GED Social Studies
The new GED Social Studies covers reading strategies to understand facts from opinions, analyzing historical information that has sequencing, cause and effect, and timelines. You will learn about economic systems, basic economic problems our society faces, as well as general Social Studies vocabulary.

Canadian Geography

In this course, you will learn ways that maps are useful and practice reading them. You will explore the geography of Canada and its abundance of natural resources and how Canada’s physical features influence population size and where people and businesses choose to locate. You will read and interpret graphs to identify trends and make predictions. Lastly, you will learn why Canada is proud of its diverse population and culture.

Register for this course if you would like to take a GED Practice Test to determine which subject areas you need to upgrade your skills in, prior to applying to write the official GED Test.
Writing an Essay
In this course, you will learn to identify parts of a 5-paragraph essay. You will learn to read writing prompt instructions and understand how to answer them. You will get hands-on writing experience using strategies like brainstorming, drafting rough copies, revising and editing to create an essay with a thesis statement, introduction, body and concluding paragraphs.

GED Prep Series 1: Writing a GED Essay
In this class, you will learn the steps for writing a GED Essay. We explain the details to look for when reading the essay question and then discuss the importance of planning your response. We teach strategies for organizing your essay into paragraphs and explain how your essay will be graded. Ace the essay with this class!

Just like the GED Social Studies Test, the Science Test looks at your ability to read and interpret information in text, diagrams, charts and graphs. In this class, you are introduced to sample questions from a variety of topics including, Life Science, Earth & Space Science, and Physical Science. Together, we read the questions, find the key details, and break down the strategies for choosing the proper answer.
